What is the Placerville Brewfest? For 11 years this popular Placerville Event has been hosted by The Downtown Placerville Association and local merchants. Main street is closed off so that folks can safely walk the streets and enjoy great food, drinks, and unique shops; As well as view the synonymous 'Giant Beer Stein' decoration that covers the historical Main st. Bell Tower! Placerville style! Over 35 craft breweries will be pouring samples inside merchant locations and in the Mooney Parking Lot near Tortilla Flats. For those wishing to sample the beers, tickets are available for $30 each in Placerville at River City Bank and Tony Matthews (on Main Street) or at Placerville Brewing Co. and Brick Oven Pub (on Placerville Drive). What is the American River Music Festival? The American River Music Festival, September 16~17~18, strives to meet it's non-profit mission, "To Teach, Inspire and Enjoy Music" by presenting performances and workshops throughout the friendly river community of Coloma.  For 2011, the festival presents the "Finest in Americana", and it all happens at the riverfront mainstage, in three riverfront campgrounds, a guided hike along the river, our "gorge" whitewater river trip and fun eateries in Coloma.

Headlining the night at The Cozmic Cafe during this glorious event is San Francisco based Americana band Elliot Randall & The Deadmen and local faves 'The Empty Wallets', who have performed all over the Placerville area, including the American River Music Festival:

Elliot Randall & The Deadmen released their sophomore album, "Caffiene & Gasoline", in February of 2010. Just weeks later, they found themselves  in the top 30 on the Americana Airplay charts, where they remained for seventeen weeks. The album was also listed at #33 on the Americana Music Association's Top 100 Albums of 2010.

"Caffeine & Gasoline" features a collection of songs that blend three-part harmonies with outlaw country, rock and the band's own brand of rhythm & blues. The album was recorded and produced at Mission Bells Studio in San Francisco by David Simon-Baker (ALO, Jackie Greene, The Mother Hips) and Randall. It features Randall's core band, The Deadmen - Kyle Caprista (drums,vocals), James Deprato (guitars,banjo,mandolin) and Danilo Lopez (bass, vocals), and a special guest appearance by Jackie Greene .  "Caffeine & Gasoline" builds on the strengths that were characteristic of Randall's debut - "a sweet voice, a keen eye, a deft hand with lyrics, and a great command of production dynamics." The Empty Wallets are Matt Semonsen (guitar, mandolin, harmonica, vocals, songwriter), Paul Swagart (lead guitar, vocals, songwriter), Brian Keating (bass, vocals), and Robert Mills (percussion). They play original jammin americana based material, but will cover some tunes they love too.

Their roots come from the great music of the late 60s and early 70s, so you'll hear influences of that era in their music. Live music, in this mixed up crazy world, still stirs the soul like no other.
