The Cozmic Cafe and Pub brings new life to one of Placerville’s oldest and most beautiful historic treasures, the Pearson’s Soda Works Building, established in 1859, and located at 594 Main St., Placerville, in the heart of California's Gold Rush country. The rustic environment of this old stone building offers a unique atmosphere for this popular natural food café, which supports fair-trade and local sustainable, organic farming.
The Cozmic, as it is known locally, is considered a progressive hub for the Sierra foothill community. Customers thrive on the vibe and always feel fulfilled after eating any of the creative nourishing dishes offered on the menu - open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The Upstairs Pub serves a masterful selection of local El Dorado County wines and microbrews while the ballroom, known for its rich, warm sound has become the area’s favorite venue for professional live music of all genres. During the week, the ballroom is the perfect space for yoga classes. We also host holistic workshops, private parties, and business and community meetings.
What makes the Cozmic Café a place out of the ordinary is that is has an authentic, historical goldmine in the back of the building. Once used to store ice, butter, vegetables, beer, wine, etc., guests can still explore the mine and enjoy its cool temperature all year round.
The Cozmic Café & Pub honors the role it plays in the community as an alternative model of business, promoting art, independence, wellness, community and cooperation. Stop by and check it out the next time you come to Historic Downtown Placerville. You won't forget it!
